Gastroenteritis or stomach flu is caused by a category of viruses named Rotavirus, Astrovirus or Adenovirus. Certain kinds of bacteria like Staphylococcus, Salmonella or E. Coli found in toxic food can trigger of stomach flu. Giardia parasites can also be a cause for gastroenteristis babies.
